Sankɔfa asks us to return for what was left behind. Cinema can make that return visible, especially when the story concerns heritage removed from Afrikan hands and hidden inside foreign institutions.
At the Abibitumi Abibifahodie Film Festival 2026, veteran filmmaker Nii Kwate Owoo will receive the Legacy Award, followed by a screening of You Hide Me. The festival gathers October 16–18 at Ozone Cinema in Accra and online.
The film is not only an archive of an earlier struggle. It gives today’s audience a method: look directly at what was taken, name the structure that keeps it, and organize the knowledge needed for recovery.
Follow the official festival site and join the October gathering.
