The Sankɔfa Journey: Ghana and Burkina Faso
The Sankɔfa Journey is truly a life-changing experience. Okuninibaa Mawiyah Kambon, PhD and Ɔbenfo Ọbádélé Kambon, PhD endeavor to provide Abibifoɔ ‘Black People’ with a diverse array of activities deeply rooted in cultural reclamation, healing, and reconnection.

Participants will hear firsthand from repatriates about how to repatriate and invest, and what life in Ghana and Burkina Faso is really like.

Participants will enjoy indigenous fare specially prepared for the health-conscious and vegans, highlighting local culinary traditions.

Participants will visit the dungeons where our Ancestors were held and engage in the powerful door of return ritual, reclaiming a sacred connection with the past.

Participants will learn Twi, the primary indigenous language of Ghana, on a daily basis, empowering themselves through language reconnection.

Participants will get a chance to try their hand at Capoeira, an indigenous Abibifoɔ ‘Black People’ martial art rooted in resistance and rhythm.

Participants lodge ONLY and INTENTIONALLY at Abibifoɔ ‘Black People’-owned establishments of the highest quality, supporting local Black enterprise and excellence.

Participants will meet respected traditional leaders and spiritual authorities, including the Nsumankwaahene, chief spiritual consultant to the Asantehene, and others keeping ancestral traditions alive.

Participants will take part in akɔm, the traditional spiritual ceremony of the Akan, reactivating ancestral pathways.

Participants will experience breathtaking countrysides and waterfalls, witnessing the natural beauty that Abibiman ‘Black Lands’ has to offer — and so much more!
Every participant’s Sankɔfa Journey is both a deeply personal and collective experience. Many are the first in their family line to return to Abibifoɔ ‘Black People’ soil in over 300 years, becoming living representatives of both their Abibifoɔ ‘Black People’ Ancestors and descendants.
